Film: Finding Nemo
Genre: Famliy, Animation
Year: 2003
Finding Nemo is yet another one of the Disney/Pixar triumphs of recent years, an enchanting yet modern tale about one fish's quest to find his son, who has been taken from the Great Barrier Reef by a diver, and spirited many miles away to Sydney. Geoffrey provides the voice for the kind-hearted pelican, Nigel, who befriends little Nemo, and helps Nemo's father, the fretful Marlon, to find his son once again.
It's surprising how many people fail to realise that Geoffrey gives his voice to Nigel in this movie, and I was surprised myself, back when I first started to look into Geoffrey's movie C.V., to hear that he had done the voiceover. It's quite ironic that, when we hear Geoffrey use the Australian accent, we seem less inclined to believe it's him, owing to the fact that he alters his voice for practically every other role he plays. I believe he puts on a stronger accent than he actually has for Nigel, really emphasising the character's nationality, but it's undoubtedly Geoffrey behind the beak! He has a wonderful voice for animation, being able to transmit so much through the various inflections of his voice, and he makes Nigel into as lively and rounded a character as possible in what is perhaps my favourite of the Disney/Pixer catalogue thus far.
